I’ve been a coffee addict for many years. I think I actually started drinking coffee when I was like 10 or something. I just remember my dad taking me to the local diner and getting me a cup. He of course had to show me the “strong coffee” joke by making the spoon stand up without touching the edge. It’s amazing how some memories can stick with us like that.
Over the years, coffee and me have become nearly inseparable, which I now know is because I’m ADHD and I’ve been self medicating. I’m one of those people who can literally drink a pot of coffee and fall asleep almost immediately. So, photographing things that are involved with coffee are usually on my list. When I visited one of the greenhouses (I don’t remember if this was in Madison or in Milwaukee) and saw the arabica coffee tree, I had to of course take some photos. The flowers on the tree are so delicate, but too far away to be able to get my nose over to smell. On a later trip, there were actually cherries on the branches, and I have discovered that they actually do harvest them, then roast them and have a very small batch of beans you can buy. One day I will get some.
