For the birds

A few years ago, I heard a rumor that there were pelicans at the local park. I had never seen pelicans in the wild before, nor was I aware that they even came to the area. According to the Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance they were fairly rare at one point, but have been becoming more common over the years. After taking a short trip over to the lake, there they were just chilling on a log at sunset. I was lucky that the light was nice that night as it was that nice warm sunset light. Since the sun was low, the water was acting like a nice reflector helping to fill in shadows under the birds.

I have a feeling we will be seeing more and more shifts in migration habits resulting in seeing, or not seeing, various bird species.
