Ok you got me, this isn’t Rome. It’s actually in the area of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on the UP of Michigan. I happened to be able to finally visit for the first time and during peak fall colors. It’s a trip that I had been wanting to do for a long time, unfortunately it was a very short trip. From madison, it’s about a five hour drive. I will say though, taking US-41 along Green Bay is wonderful.
I was only there two days. So my total time in the park was really only like 4 hours each day. I could have spent a week there and still wanted to see more. During fall peak, driving through Hiawatha National Forest was beyond stunning. Then again, I have not been to many places specifically for fall colors. The oranges and reds were absolutely stunning.
Now to my point since I have been wandering a bit. I generally try to avoid overdone and cliche images, but when I saw the barn here against the backdrop of en epitome of fall on display, I couldn’t help myself. However, this is not the image that I wanted to create. Literally about fifty feet more down the road was the shot. There was a small creek that wound through the field, and there was a nice little opening that would have been an amazing foreground element. Since I was in a hurry though, and I wasn’t paying attention, I missed the shot. So, just picture this image as a vertical framed image with a nice little creek opening up at the bottom of the frame with a reflection of the clouds. But, when in Rome, you just kinda go with the flow.
