I actually missed this monument when I went out west the first time. This is Dignity which is a tribute to the various Native American tribes located in the region. Speaking of region, it sits along the Missouri River in Chamberlain, SD. It’s a quick stop off the interstate. Along with the statue, which is about 50 feet tall and absolutely stunning, there is a small information area about the Lewis and Clark expedition.
It’s worth a stop for several reasons, plus you should take regular breaks while driving long distances anyways. There are a couple short trails that take you out to a couple great views of the river.
