Stormy Badlands

Nikon D810 and AF-S14-24 15sec f8 ISO 100

My journey into photography

My journey into photography started nearly 30 years ago or more. I’ve always been fascinated by storms and severe weather, and I wanted to learn how to take pictures of lightning. So, my dad gave me an old full manual film SLR, and I started learning. The more I learned and experimented, the more I fell in love with the craft.

The image above was just shot within the past couple years, but it’s one of my favorite lightning photos because it merges my photography, storms, and national parks. This was taken at Badlands National Park out in South Dakota, where I have spent a lot of time. I can’t wait to get back since I have several projects that I absolutely want to work on.

If this image is one that you love as well, and would like to see it on your wall, it is available to order as a print. Take a peek: The Stormy Badlands Remember, purchasing my images help me to continue to adventure and make more images.
