Thanks for wanting to find out a little more about who I am. Clearly you can see that my name is Shawn, and I’m a photographer. I suppose it was pretty obvious if you’re this far on my site. I’ve been interested in photography since the mid to late 90’s, but my passion of the art really started taking off in the 2010’s. I’ve taught basic photography, and I have photographed nearly any genre you can think of.
Today, I have two distinct photography personalities. If you came here from my TieDyedWanderer identity, that is my “personal/passion” projects and art. They revolve around nature, environmentalism, travel, and storm chasing. Here though, my goal is to build a career centered around telling stories… otherwise known as journalism.
I am one of those freelance photographers; which means I will photograph a range of subjects. Over the years I have photographed concerts and musicians, sports, a periodic political event, various news related topics, and of course portraits. I’ve had my work in local weekly news papers like my old hometown publication Post Journal. I have also been featured more recently in the Madison Magazine – Best of Madison 2022. Some of my storm chasing content has been featured on the Weather Channel as well as Accuweather.
Today, I want to work on creating editorial portraits that tell the story of the subject. I want to help small businesses showcase their goods from food to other products. Especially, I would like to find and work with people who are working to showcase how our world is being affected by climate change and what we are doing to help as a society.
If I sound like I could capture your story, head over to my contact page or email me. I would love to hear how I can help you tell your story.
