Sunrise over the Castle

Light spills over pinnacles near Castle trail at Badlands National Park.

Badlands National Park is a world unlike an other. When coming to the park, the gentle flat plains give way to buttes and pinnacles that are undercut by rough canyons. The light and texture of the landscape are amazing and the wildlife is spectacular, which is why it has become a favorite destination of mine.

This image was taken at sunrise as the light began to pour over spires near Castle Trail on the eastern side of the park.
